Product Description

Live green- be green. Out of the woods of Oregon is proud of our green heritage. Long before it was fashionable, we were concerned with conserving our resources and caring for our environment. Our wood products are made in Eugene, Oregon using Oregon red alder. Red alder is a sustainable hardwood that flourishes in the lush climate of the coastal pacific northwest. Red alder is re-planted as it is harvested ensuring the sustainability of this beautiful resource for decades to come. Of equal importance to us, is the wise use of the wood. Much of our wood comes from local furniture manufacturers because we are able to use their short and narrow pieces (fall down) to create many of our products. Short boards, not long enough for their use, are used to make our cutting and serving boards. Very narrow pieces of wood are used to make our spice racks and push pulls. We even use our saw dust to heat many of our buildings. We offer an extensive line of cutting boards for basic kitchen use as well as a wide assortment of specialty boards great for serving dips, pate's, cheeses, and oils. We are proud to be wood workers in Eugene, Oregon and we hope you will enjoy using our products as much as we enjoy making them.

Best Bread Slicer!!

I have a bread machine and make bread often. But the knives I have always would crush the loaf. So I looked on amazon and saw one other review for this knife and took a chance. Well I completely agree with the first review that this slicer is AWESOME!! Cuts like butter whether the loaf is hot or cooled without smooshing. Highly recommend.
WOW!

This is a beautiful knife. I have it hung up for all to see in my kitchen. The wood is stunning. I baked bread this weekend just so I could use it.

It was like slicing melted butter. So easy, smooth glide down the bread. No torn edges or squished bread loaf. I can't say enough positive things about it. I am very happy that I have a left hand version waiting as a gift for xmas. Can't wait for my brother in law to open it!

You can't go wrong with this knife. Buy one and another as a gift.
BEST BREAD KNIFE EVER

I've tried many bread knives including a couple of electric knives to use for my home baked bread but this is the best knife by far. It allowed me to slice the fresh baked bread thin and evenly every slice. I usually wind up with slices too thick and too thin but with this knife they all turned out perfect. For all the home bakers out there, I highly recommend it.

I took it with me to Christmas dinner!

I love this knife! My mother worked at Subway ages ago, and our drawers are filled with old subway knives that cut bread very well. However, the knives had begun to dull and I could never cut my baked bread thing enough or straight enough. The bread knife that came with my knife set is also pretty dull and never really worked well - the bread would always crumble. Getting to the point, I actually packed the knife with the bread that I took to Christmas dinner. I cut a small slice off as soon as my swirl bread came out of the oven and it was like cutting butter. No squishing or crumbling, just a nice clean cut. I'll be buying at least 2 for Mother's Day this coming year! My boyfriend's afraid to touch it for fear of breaking it and me killing him. LOL Seriously, I love the knife.
knife well suited to slicing homemade loafs

We have been baking more bread recently and so needed to slice our own loafs. The large peaks and valleys of the serrated knife is quite effective at cutting the bread without crushing the loaf. Secondly, the bow gives you a reference against which to judge whether your slice is getting too deep or shallow. Likewise, it also helps you not to cut slices which are too thick on one side and taper to paper thin on the other.

Being left-handed, I'd urge the manufacturers, [...], to issue a left-handed version of the knife. Because of the bow and the single serrated edge, you must grasp the knife in the right hand exclusively. Perhaps they could serrate both the top and the bottom of the blade to make it ambidextrous, but that might make it a bit more dangerous if you're not paying attention while handling the knife.

Finally, I dealt with [...] about a warranty issue. There responded promptly and graciously and addressed my concerns completely.
